I am a librarian at an elementary school. I am taking a research class this summer, and I'm doing action research on the topic of what is the role of the librarian in meeting all the reading needs of students, including their instructional reading needs. Has our role expanded to include leveled books for them to practice at their instructional level? I would like to know what librarians, teachers, parents, students and administrators think. Please rank the student needs listed below as to what you feel is the librarian's and library collection's primary role for K-3 students. ( 1 being most important) * meeting recreational reading needs * meeting informational reading needs * meeting instructional needs through books at their reading level * introducing a variety of reading materials * Other- please state Please include a short statement as to why you feel this way. Thanks in advance.
