HIT: Read alouds for principal...

Hello everyone!
        Last week I requested suggestions from you for good read alouds for my new 
principal and
good ways to get off on the right foot at my new school. Below, I will list 
suggestions and
paraphrase some replies for those of you who requested a hit from me. Thank you 
very much to all
of you who gave suggestions- I truly appreciate your time!

Read aloud possibilities:
1.  Principal From the Black Lagoon
2.  How I Spent My Summer Vacation (Teague)
3.  Hey, New Kid! (Betsy Duffey) - 3rd gr.
4.  The True Story of the Three Little Pigs - 3-5 gr. (everyone has a "story" for 
the
principal!)
5.  Loudmouse (Richard Wilbur)- 1st gr. (maybe Noisy Nora would work too.)
6.  Lunch Money (Shields) - poems about school
7.  Bad Case of Stripes (Shannon) - being yourself
8.  The Big Orange Splot (Pinkwater) - being yourself
9.  Thomas' Snowsuit
10. The Principal's New Clothes
11. Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books
12. Mike Thaler's books
13. Chrysanthemum (Keven Henkes) - (K-1)
14. Harry Potter books, Running Out of Time, Frindle (4-5 gr.)
15. T.F. Letters (Karen Ray) - 3rd gr.
16. Bully for the Beast - 1st gr.
17. I Am a Second Grade Werewolf
18. Sara Bear and Sweet William - 2nd gr.
19. Wayside Stories- Ch. 1 or chapter called "Paul" for older students
20. BFG (Dahl)- chapter called "Frobscottle and Whizpoppers"

To get off on the right foot:
        Be very accessible and ask teachers to let you know their needs so you can 
look into
ordering appropriate materials.
        Get a recent yearbook and list of staff names and start memorizing.
        Get on good terms with custodial staff and secretarial staff, etc. Can be 
of great help to
you.
