New elementary librarian

Fellow librarians,


I am beginning a new career as an elementary librarian.  I have spent the
last fourteen years as a Language Arts/Social Studies seventh grade teacher.
  I need help in understanding the minds of K-5 children.  Any suggestions
would be welcome!

A few questions:

1. Easy books are best suited for which grade levels?
2. What are some tips for a new school librarian?
3. Any good websites to check grade levels for books?
4. Tips on what to do first with students in each grade level?
5. Which professional library magazine would you recommend to order
    for the elementary school?
