I am currently updating our summer reading list for students who will be
entering our science magnet program in the fall (as 9th graders).

We have books in the following categories (some of which are used by NY
Public Library in its Books for the Teenage):
animals
archaeology and the early world
astronomy and space exploration
biology, chemistry and physics
biotechnology and genetics
diseases and viruses
forensic science and crime
math
medicine and the mind
planet earth
remarkable people
technology
alternate worlds: science fiction titles (these are all sci-fi classics)

I am looking for suggestions of titles, especially for the planet earth and
technology sections.
The titles you suggest do not have to be new books.

If you can, please send me ONE suggestion of THE best science book you
think the kids (14-15 yr. olds) will read.

Thanks!
