You might want to check out the Evalutech website, which evaluates software
products and is a searchable database. It is a project of the Southern

Subject: Middle School Software

I am just completing my first year as a media specialist in a K-8 school.
My duties are to act as media specialist at one of our PreK-4 schools and
also teach computer classes there. I work strictly as a media specialist
at our 5-8 school. My problem is that our principal has asked me to
purchase software for both schools. Since I have no experience with the
kinds of software being used for middle school students. Of course, he
wants my suggestions by the end of the school year, which is next week. He
would like to cover as many subject areas as we can with our limited
budget. I was hoping you might have some suggestions as to what titles
might be appropriate for this level and also any companies that might offer
good deals. My budget is extremely limited. I would like to get as many
copies and titles as my budget will allow. Thanks in advance for all your
help.
