I am presently doing this but not just one lab but two labs!
it is a nightmare.
don't do it. your day will become one in which your whole focus is
on scheduling classes and assigning computers to students.

i have not time to teach, run the library or work with teachers
i have two part-time people and have been
semi-promised two full time people next year.

Positvies:
our library space is popular and well used
I am popular and well used (exhausted also)
Ihave learned so very much about computers, software and Internet sites.

Recommendations for the lab if you get one in your library:
If you do get a lab,
no study hall students or individual students working
let someone else run THAT computer lab.
The library computer lab should be only for classes
that you are working with and teachers
must consult with you about what resources will be used etc.

Presently we don't have that and just this
week a teacher scheduled her class to do a slide show project
on an artist. The teacher has no clue on how to make a slide show
and about 1/4 of the students didn't know either!
I was not told beforehand that this was the project or asked to help
but I spent a great deal of time in there helping.
Next year, if I am here in this position
That will be a must and I want to make sure each computer lab
project gets an evaluation done by the teacher and me.

Good luck and thanks for letting me gripe.
