I am taking a reference sources & services class this summer and one of the
assignments is to interview a librarian (school, public, academic, etc). I
thought to myself, why limit the interview to the thoughts & opinions of
just one person when there are so many helpful LM_NET members who can
provide me with a variety of perspectives? Also, the focus in this class
has been very general, with much discussion of public and academic
reference issues, and I want to zero in on how these issues are addressed
by school media specialists.

(Unlike my undergrad experience, I am working to focus less on grades and
more on gleaning from each assignment, information I can actually use.)

When I presented this idea to my professors, they encouraged me to go for
it. So here are my questions. Please indicate somewhere in your response
what level of students your program serves.

1. Which are your favorite print reference sources for children, and why?

2. Which are your favorite nonprint reference sources, and why?

3. What are your thoughts regarding print vs nonprint reference sources?

4. How do you evaluate reference tools you are considering for selection?

5. Which reference resources do your students use the most?

6. What strategies/activities do you utilize to encourage your
students to use
        reference sources?

7. Which reference/information skills do find the most difficult to teach?

8. Which reference/information skills do you most enjoy teaching?

9. Please describe the 'ideal' reference collection for your school
media
        program.

I look forward to reading your responses. Your input is valuable and very
much appreciated!
