GEN: Evaluating a HS collection

I am a brand new high school library media center specialist as of October
30, 1998. I have spent my time since my hire observing, listening, learning,
etc.

If anyone has any suggestions about the first and most important thing that I
should do when evaluating and taking stock of the collection (over 11,000
books, over 300 videos, 30 magazines, etc) please let me know.
