I am a recent library school graduate and am currently looking for my first position as a SLMS. I am hoping to get a position at the elementary level, but due to the fact that schools are not burning up my phone wire to call me for an interview I have widened my scope to the secondary level. I have an interview at a smallish private high school next week. I am not very familiar with library programs at the secondary level and am trying to find as much information as I can. I have searched the archives but I would appreciate your direct feedback as well. That's quite the introduction to a question...which is: What role does literature play at the middle and high school level? I know that often the LMS reads to her/his classes at the elementary level, but what about the secondary level? Is the LMS role basically study skills and reference work at this level? Thank you for your feedback. --- Juliann T.
