Our students are reading Tim O'Brien's book, "The Things They Carried" (a book of fictional episodes about Vietnam war and its aftermath) in 10th grade English classes . One of the teachers was considering a "follow-up" assignment in which students are given a particular battle, etc., of the war to research. The original idea was that they would write a short paper on the topic. However, we are now looking for an assignment that is somewhat more creative. If you have any assignments that your students have done related to any aspect of the Vietnam War, (in English or history class) I/we would love to hear about them! I will post a hit if anyone is interested.
