Travel Help Needed: Chicago--Northern IN Only

I'm getting together with librarian friends for a weekend soon and need some
help.

There are four of us, and laptop computers.  I assume we need a suite so we
can play with our toys together.  I found suites downtown--$300 a night and
up.  I nearly had a heart attack.

The one friend who doesn't drive much is around Hammond, IN.  The rest are
coming up from Ohio, Indiana and down from Chicago.  I checked two places in
Lansing IL, but no suites are available.

Do you know of anywhere that would be appropriate without my having to cash
in my teacher's retirement fund? B&Bs would be okay if we had a room to
gather in and they didn't mind a few bottles of wine and champagne.

Thanks in advance--you folks always know where to find a quality bargain.
