Book titles often include words such as resource, handbook, sourcebook, etc. that help to clarify the depth and scope of a book's contents. I'm trying to determine exactly what the phrase, desk reference, implies. I'm interested in hearing from other librarians about their impressions and expectations for books that are identified as desk references. TIA.
