We are in the process of formulating a Donation Policy for our district -- specifically donations of (mainly) books to our school libraries. I would appreciate an opportunity to view policies created by other K12 institutions. Comments on what should be included in such a policy are also welcome. For example, should we make a statement as to copyright date/age for non fiction? Also, do other schools take all donations with the stipulation that items may or may not be used? Or do they ask somehow that people not even bring items that don't meet meet minimum standards/guidelines? (I just went thru 30 cases of donated books without finding a single keeper. How do we discourage the basement cleaners and remain... gracious??
