True story:
8th grade class, starting *I-Search* projects, on topics of personal
interest--

Brittnee (yes, that IS how she spells her name):  well, I, like, you know,
want to find out about, you know, the history of, like, shoes. . . . but,
like, you prob'ly won't have any stuff on that, huh?  (hoping against hope
that this will absolve her from the assignment)

Librarian:  What a great topic! And I have the perfect book for you to
start with -- it's called "Where will this shoe take you?" (by Laurie Lawlor,
Walker, 1996), and it's even got great pictures!

Brittnee: (pouting) Mrs. Y!  That is like SOOO unfair!!!  Why would the
school even have a book like that?

Librarian:  for assignments like these. . . .

Brittnee:  That. Is. Not. Fair.   Like, Not. at. allllllll.
