Isn't it possible in public and academic libraries to require people to
sign acceptable use policies and to have going to porn sites be an
unacceptable use?

My neighbor, a computer wonk, suggested that *they* should have, when
the internet started, added a .xxx ending just like .edu or .com, and
required all porn sites to use that. How many people would then object
to filtering out all those .xxx sites? I wouldn't have a problem with
that.

However, that wouldn't satisfy Dr. L, who is on a rampage about sites
like the Alice site from Columbia Univiersity which answers user
questions about sex (all kinds of sex, S&M, beastiality, etc.)

In fact, yesterday I heard her say that librarians are using the first
amendment rights to free speech to *ensure* that kids are exposed to
pornography. Isn't that saying that librarians are making sure that
every kid is exposed to pornography? Do you do that? Does your public
librarian? Now even if you don't agree with the ALA policy, that is a
misrepresentation that is so close to a lie that I find it shocking
coming from someone who values character so highly. I urge everyone to
start listening to her broadcasts so you can see for yourself what she
is saying. You can find her broadcast stations on her website.
