I do support free speech. I support that everyone has a right to an
opinion, and I believe Peter allowed people a fair chance to speak freely
before reminding them about the net etiquette....sort of what I do in the
library. I don't jump all over people who enter the library talking.....I
give them a few minutes grace period to get settled (realize it's the
library!), and then enforce the "please be quiet here" rule.

Living overseas, I don't have the news that you all get, and so this list
serve has been very educational. I've learned a lot about a wide variety of
topics.....and that's been wonderful, but I guess there just comes a time
when the conversation gets old (like when you're at a family reunion, and
Uncle ________goes on and on about his German trips), and you just have to
move on.....It doesn't make the news any LESS important --Dr Laura and my
"Uncle German Trips"are still important--it's just time to move onto
another topic.

It is interesting how quickly library list moderators crack down on free =
speech. There is no discussion of Dr. Laura allowed on PUBLIB either. =
Let's bury our heads in the sand and talk about what is the best day to =
make books due for the end of the school year. No wait, let's dig up that
=
public/versus school libraries thing again. I'm gonna start an argument =
about what is the best encyclopedia. =20

Way to take a strong stand, too bad it's dead wrong.
