We have a Win NT WAN with IBM workstations throughout the district. I have ten stations in the library. I want my computers to be used for research and word processing. Students have learned how to download games from the internet and play games across the network. Our computer lab teachers allow games such as Quake which is in especially poor taste now since the Littleton shooting. I have asked the lab teachers to take the share off the games folder so the students cannot play across the network. They have not. We have 5 days left so I have turned off my computers to avoid any more trouble here at inventory, state report time. My questions are these: Does your district allow any games? What qualifies as a game? Number Munchers, Treasure Mountain, Grand Theft Auto, Oregon Trail, Quake? Any suggestions? TIA Kay Goss Director, Library Media Services Mansfied R-IV Schools 315 W.
