FAME Members,

Did you have a program or project in your library media center that enhanced
the lifelong learning skills of students?  Share it with us and get a chance
to win a cash prize!

The FAME/Winnebago Progressive School Library Media Award applications are
due June 15.  Check out the FAME web page for information and get your
application by e-mailing your request to Nancy McIntire at nancyfl@aol.com

Read the article in the winter edition of FMQ for winning programs from other
states.  This is an opportunity for recognition at the state, district, and
school level.  So take some time before the school year ends and fill out an
application for the FAME/Winnebago Progressive School Library Media Award.

Get the word out in your districts through your e-mail systems or local media
organizations.

Hi,

Had a person come and ask if this (the 1999 Pre-teen Michigan Scholarship
and Recognition Program) is a legitimate program.  Child is a very good
student and involved in many activities.  Family has received correspondence
saying the child is a local finalist.  She is invited to compete in Lansing
to see if she can go on to the Nationals.  What concerns me is the family
needs to send a $250.00 "sponsorship fee.  If the girl wants to  participate
in the talent events that is additional money.

The child is quite excited and the mom is skeptical.  Anyone know of this
organization or can you lead me to a means of checking this out?
