I asked for suggestions about moving a library earlier this spring, and I'=
d like to bring you up to date. Someone (I can't remember who, but bless =
you!) suggested shrink wrap, by which she meant plastic wrap on commercial-=
kitchen-size rolls. I, fortunately, am not having to do the wrapping of =
our shelves (the construction company is doing it in penance for not =
getting the building finished on time), but I've been watching the process.=
They have a team of 4 - a couple of people who can easily lift a full =
shelf of books are necessary for success. Two take the shelf off the =
brackets, and two go around it with the wrap (which is on a hand-held =
dispenser thingy). They've got it down to under 1 minute per shelf, and =
they will finish all 12,500 of my books in less than 10 hours. The =
wrapped shelves are stacking 3 high, and they will transport them on =
wheeled pallets to their storage location. This has gone far more easily t=
han I ever imagined, and I thought I'd share it with you since so many of =
you asked what I had found out. =
