Hi Jennifer,
Last year we did a major weeding project for our automation, at that time we
cleaned out the biography section of all old and out-dated books.  I found that
my two jobbers, Perma Bound and Follette had a wide range of biographies of
contemporary individuals, women and sports figures included.  Chelsea House
publishers has an excellent selection of biographies available at various reading
levels.  It was hard at first but once I started looking I found some very
interesting biographies that so far the kids seem to like as well.
