A new fifth grade teacher came to me with a note from a parent. She (the teacher) had assigned a mystery book report (a book report on a mystery book) for her students. Apparently this one student is an above average reader. when the parent took the child to the public library nmost of the books they located were either YA (and therefore inappropriate topic or language wise). I've printed off a list of grades 3-5 Mysteries from Dale Copps site. We've got books by Virginia Hamilton, John Rambeau, E W Hildick, John Bellairs, James Howe.. I thought Hardy Boys was too easy. Any other suggestions for this advanced 5th grade reader... in the mystery genre? The teacher thought of Agatha Christie. Please reply directly, as I am posting this from a school account which is set to NOMAIL.
