Greetings:

I've had a couple of my 8th grade boys in asking for books about World War
II. As we searched the computer, we discovered that almost all WWII fiction
in our collection concerns civilians: holocaust victims, underground
members, children caught up in the drama of the war, and so on, books like
Fireweed. These boys wanted _battle_ books. They've already read Last
Mission by Mazar. I can't seem to find anything to follow up with. Can
anyone suggest some good fiction titles about the battles from the soldiers'
points of view? I'll head to the bookstore over the weekend and buy a few
titles. This is a Christian middle school, so we do try to limit the
"grittiness" of the books we have, although I realize that any battle book
is going to be gritty if it's true to its subject. I also realize that books
of this kind often include language that can be a bit offensive, although we
do try to avoid anything overly rough or gratuitous.

I'd appreciate any help you can give.
