TARGET: Video cameras

We recently had a Canon video camera that was approximately 8 years old b=
reak
in the mechanism that allows the tape door to open.  Having been informed=
 that
it was irreparable (sp?) we need to purchase a new one and I woud like so=
me
advice on which brands are the best.  We cannot afford a digital one and =
don't
need all the bells and whistles.
