You might want to investigate the Virtual LRC ( HTTP://VIRTUALLRC.COM ).  The VLRC 
has selected some of the top information sites on the Web and made it possible to 
search many of them at one time with specialized (customized) HotBot search 
engines.  Subject areas include
electronic magazines, newspapers and other news sources, electronic texts, art 
history, government information, biology, biography, literature, medical/health 
information, history, social sciences, and legal.
