HIT: Security

Dear Netters,
     A number of people have requested any information I received about
security systems, so I thought I'd better post a HIT.  I'm very grateful
for all the responses and will call the companies.  Most will probably have
web sites.
     Most people had 3M, but those with the system were not ecstatic about
3M and complained about the expensive service contract.  Everyone reminded
me that nothing works perfectly, and students can manage to evade any
system.  But, the knowledge that a system was installed proved to be a
deterrent in and of itself for most people.
     Others giving input mentioned Sensormatic, available through Vernon
Library Supplies.  Those who had it were very pleased.
     Anyway, lots of caveats - some systems couldn't be near metal,
computers, etc., but all who had a system felt that it was a worthwhile
purchase.
