TARGET, ELEM: NEW COMPUTER LAB TEACHER--HELP!

Dear LM_NETTERS,

Today, after many years of classroom teaching, I have accepted a position as
a computer lab teacher--Curriculum Technology Specialist (CTS). I've been
told I'll be helping define/create the job that could possibly be a model for
our entire district. I start the job Nov. 29th (!) and am very excited but
definitely need some help. I'll be working in partnership with the school
media specialist who has been managing technology up until now. I've had 9
grad hrs. of training to be a media specialist so have some background on the
Big Six and Information Power (and that is how I connected to LM_NET.) I'll
have an associate. There is one other CTSer in the district that I've already
contacted and plan to collaborate with. I need any and all suggestions you
might have that would help get me started. What are good teacher resources?
Is there a discussion group similar to LM_NET specific to teaching
technology? What are the professional organizations I'd want to know about?
Are there any similar programs I could contact for ideas or better yet ones I
might be able to visit? I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but do travel to St.
Paul, MN often to visit my college son.  I plan to read up over Thanksgiving
so I go into the new position with a starting point.
