GEN: Media PR, presentation for ADM. meeting follow-up

At the beginning of this school year I asked for suggestions on what to do
for a presentation at the November administrator's meeting.

The suggestions were wonderful and I did post a hit. This is a follow up
telling you what we did:

1) Yes, we fed them...took breakfast type snacks,
2) We decorated the meeting room...went in early and put up signs (with an
Art Waxer) that 'told' what a media specialist does,
3) We had double sided laminated place mats...each one had a definition of a
media specialist on one side and on the other was the caption, "What YOUR
media specialist knows, or knows where to find it..." with different web
sites that might interest them (sports, shopping, educational, maps to
conferences, and DOE),
4) Introduction...I had a brief intro. mainly to tell them why we were there
"...November we think about giving thanks...Thank You for knowing we are not
just teacher's breaks or planning periods, but integral parts of each school
etc...
5) Humor...in part of the intro. I said ...we thought about coming in
dressed in flashy sequined dresses, shaking our stuff; singing "We work hard
for the money"...
5) Presentation...A skit done on "Hollywood High" computer program of a
media specialist and a couple teachers talking about what she does all day.

It went over VERY well, only time will tell how much good it did. But there
was no negative body language, no talking during any of the presentation.
They all applauded too (once as a thanks for the food, once for the intro.
and once at the end.) Shock, shock;-)

The whole thing took less than 15 minutes.
