It is an autobiographical account of child abuse.  The author was severely
abused by his mother.  Finally, some one at this school literally saves
him and I believe that he is adopted by another family.  I had never heard
of it untl last year at Teen Read Week, it appeared as one of the favorite
books out our students.  Palzer has written two more books as well.
