LIBRARIAN
YOUTH SERVICES DIVISION

The Wichita Public Library has reopened its search for a creative,
energetic and service-minded librarian with strong interpersonal skills.
The position is assigned to the Youth Services Division and will be
available January 3, 2000.

Responsibilities include: planning and implementing preschool programming;
representing the library at community events; creating and delivering new
programs for at-risk youth, school-age populations and daycare centers;
assisting with the presentation of puppet shows; assisting with promoting
the Library to schools and daycare centers; performing collection
development activities (selection, weeding, replacement); assisting with
customer service delivery (reference, reader's advisory and circulation
activities); creating targeted bibliographies; and assisting with
coordination of system-wide juvenile collection development. Participation
in system projects and teams is expected. Some evening and weekend hours
are required. This position reports to the Coordinator of Youth Services.

Requires: MLS from an ALA accredited institution and the ability to
acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license. Experience with
computerized circulation systems, electronic databases, the Internet and
CD-ROM technology is preferred.

Salary range: $27,980 - $39,171. Offers of employment may be made
contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screening and will be made
contingent upon satisfactory evaluation of a police records check. Send
