Hi to Lorita and others,

We here in Minnesota have been working to develop a set of standards for school
library media programs based on Information Power: Building Partnerships. They
are still in DRAFT stage, but if you would like to look at them they are at:

http://www.isd77.k12.mn.us/memo/mnstandards.htm

Our state has taken very much a hands-off approach to any standard except
graduation standards. Therefore, we have written these to be used specifically
by media specialists with their principals, staff and PTOs. We hope they are
easily understood and have the kinds of quantitative measurements often missing
in such standards. To help programs grow through assessment, rather than be
simply judged by evaluation, we have created 3-level rubrics for each part of
Information Power - minimum, standard, exemplary. We are busy adding research
rationale for each the areas as well.

The committee putting these together is anxious for any response you might have
to any part of the standards. Feel free to modify and use this work as you can
in your own buildings and districts too. I'll let you know when they are
revised and/or finalized.

Best of luck,

Doug
