One of the music teachers in our school has given students an assignment to research music in ancient cultures. He explained to me that this is supposed to be some sort of tie-in to the 9th grade global studies curriculum, and the cultures he meant were Greece, Rome, China, etc. Our music references are limited mostly to Western music. Can anyone recommend, for now, some web sites which might have some information? Also, for later, some books for h.s. level which deal with non-Western music? Thanks!
