Congratulations to Suzanne on her engagement and the wonderful thought of
holding the ceremony in the library.

I, of course, am not the one to assist in this, but, again of course, far
be it from me to sit idly by while the remainder of you give her good advice.

As a librarian, I am concerned on a number of points :

first, will you hold it in front of the 394 section or the 364 (just to be
on the safe side?). You might consider an acceptable compromise -
considering the religious aspect in the 200s, or, perhaps, with so many
using various pieces of literature within the ceremony, in the 808s.

I had, just in case you wondered, considered the 796s (with marriage as a
sporting event), though this begs the question of the 001.9s. (For you
more sensitive, I avoided the 612s, since I'm not sure the principal would
agree to exposing his/her students to that).

The text, of course, should be ensconsed either on top of the card catalog
(or, for us moderns, the one of the monitors, preferably, I think, the desk
one - symbolically turned off to indicate that both participants are no
longer in circulation) and the registry obviously the final entries in an
LCMarc, or, if the couple's mothers are involved, the formal signing of an
"Overdue Notice".

Unfortunately, I see problems with using the much-molded coffee cups for
the champagne toast. If the bacteria doesn't turn off the wine, I'm sure
that it might the guests.

And, I strongly advise against the reception being held within the honored
boundaries of the library.

Imagine attempting to polka through the stacks, while one of the aides
trapses after the couples "shushing" each jubulant kick at the stacks! Or,
imagine having the students see food in the library. Horror.

So, Suzanne, I do wish you well, as do we all.

Whereever and whenever it happens - with or without the principal's
permission - a long and healthy life to you both.

Earl
