Hello everyone, I have an interesting(?) situation that I'd like your advice on. I just found out that one of my teachers has an extensive classroom library that the 4-7 graders are using instead of coming to the media center. I can't blame them as she has the new and popular titles. I have a minimal budget ($2000 total for books, supplies, everything) and the average age of my collection is 18 years. I feel obligated to update my nonfiction collection to meet curriculum needs, so popular fiction isn't likely to make into it my current budget. I am bothered by the fact that students go to a classroom to borrow reading materials - should I be? How do you allocate your funds? Our Home and School Assn. is doing a Christmas raffle which will benefit the book fund, but that's only a one-time thing. Your thoughts?
