Here are the responses I received - the request was for a good video on
Day of the Dead for 7th and 8th graders.

It's hard to find a really good one. We have one but I REFUSE to suggest
it to you, it's so hokey. We got it from Teachers' Discovery. If you find
one that's good, let me know, okay?

I don't know how good it is, but we have a video called, "Rites of the Day
of the Dead," made in Mexico. It's marked Mexican Videos, but I can't see
who distributes it (print is obscured) and there's no date or ISBN on it.
My catalog information tells me the publisher is Paramusica.

We have Day of the Dead Celebration . It was purchased from Teacher's Discovery.

We have a great video called "Celebrating the Day of the Dead", available
from Teachers Discovery 800-543-4180.

Our ESL teacher just previewed a video that probably would work well for
you. It's The Day of the Dead Celebration, from Teacher's Discovery,
1-800-TEACHER. 20 minutes long, gives lots of details about the
celebration itself which works for all levels (we are K-5), then has some
interviews that talk about other aspects of the history - ritual
sacrifices, etc. - not suitable for our kids but would work for yours.
Parts of the video are in Spanish with English subtitles. Good luck.

I bought this when I was working at the HS level. I think I ordered it
from Films for the Humanities. I am sure if you call 800-555-1212 they can
give you the 800 number.

I have one purchased from Educational Video Network in Huntsville Texas
1-409-295-5767. It's 20 mins longcalled "Day of the Dead" and catalog
number 742V. Bought it about 4 years ago.

Thanks for writing! I'll have a feature up for Day Of the Dead
soon...updated from last year's feature which was very popular. My favorite
place to order teaching materials is from Teacher's Discovery. They have two
videos available that I like the best--they even come with quizzes--done by
May Herz.

This year they have quite an array of Day of the Dead activities! If you
don't have one of their catalogs, you can order by calling 1-800-832-2437
(Second day air rush service is available for a fee).

Check with Nickelodeon who produced a NICK NEWS on the topic last year.
