Hello, friends. I am not an AOL salesrep, but I do have something very positive to report. The new AOL 5.0 has (finally) incorporated a way to add an automatic signature to e-mail messages, and an easy way to select a different signature (from among several that you have created) to substitute for the default signature that you most often use. The documentation on this does not jump out at you, but the process is easy. I would remind everyone of the LM_NET injunction that signatures should be no more than four lines long, even though it's easy to create long, fancy ones. Those can be used on personal mail. The instructions given below are from support@aol.net, icluded in an e-mail reply to me on October 1, 1999: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------- To create an email signature file: NOTE: You do not have to be signed on to do this. 1. Click MAIL CENTER in the AOL toolbar, and then select SET UP MAIL SIGNATURES. 2. Click CREATE. 3. In the SIGNATURE NAME area, type your name (or a nickname if you prefer). 4. In the SIGNATURE area, type the signature that you would like to use. Just like regular email, you can use the color, bold, italics, font, etc. 5. Click OK To add a signature to your e-mail 1. Click WRITE. 2. Address the e-mail as usual. 3. Type your message. 4. Click on the Insert Signature File icon (appearing as a pencil with a drop down arrow) on the style toolbar at the top of the message box and select the signature you want to use. 5. Send your e-mail as usual. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------- Pat Bartoshesky KidsConnect Volunteer applebart@aol.com Saint Edmond's Academy (boys, Gr. 4-8) Wilmington, DE - USA Phone: 302-475-5370 Fax: 302-475-2256 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
