Hello!
If you would like to be part of a project that connects 50 schools over 50 =
states, we'd love to have you join us! This will involve your classroom =
making 50 quilt blocks about the state you decide to represent, keeping =
one quilt block and sending the other 49 to the other schools in the =
project. A second piece of the project is to create a brochure about your =
state. Both will be sent via U. S. mail. Each school sews the 50 quilt =
blocks into a quilt as they choose.
Still interested? I hope so!
For particulars on deadlines, details of size of quilt block and materials,=

The requirements for the quilt project are as follows:

Travel Brochure (replaces post card):

Each state will send 50 travel brochures (1 to every participant). This =
should be done on
an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper folded into thirds. Your brochure should =
contain
information about your state such as date admitted to union, state flower, =
bird, motto,
flag, interesting places to visit, famous people from your state, etc. =
These are due on
January 15, 2000 with your quilt square.

Quilt Squares:

These should be done on white muslin only. Please wash the muslin before =
you cut out
your square. Each square should measure 8 inches by 8 inches. Please allow =
a one inch
border free from artwork around the square. Use fabric markers only. Since =
this is a
project to be completed by children, try to limit your involvement in the =
decorating of the
squares. The squares are due on January 15, 2000. You must decorate 50 =
squares and
send them to the participants.=20

You do not have to make a square representing your home state. You can =
choose another
state. The choice of states is on a first come first serve basis. You =
might want to do a
neighboring state. Please include one or more alternative states. You will =
be notified of
your state by October 1,1999. You will also receive a complete list of =
participants in this
project and the states they are representing.

If you have any questions about the requirements, please send Susan =
Yannitelli (the leader of our project, I am just posting this on LM_Net!) =
 the following.
her e-mail address: SYANNITELLI@ pvusd.k12.az.us
If you are interested in participating, please send Susan Yannitelli an =
e-mail along with your name,
school address, phone number, state and zip code.
We'd love to have you!
