Hi! I've been asked by a high school principal to provide ideas on the finishing touches for the school's new library. At present the new location is "a box." Would some of you experienced secondary librarians contribute your insights? If you could arrange your library any way you wanted, with new furnishings, what would it look like? Why would you choose the specific items on your wish list? I've subbed in many HS libraries, so I can contribute ideas from the ones I've seen (no doubt this is why he asked me), but to give him a really helpful answer, I'd like to include observations from your experience. I thought I would address a study area, teaching area, tech area, reading area, stacks, librarian's office, work area, and check-out area. Am I overlooking anything? What pitfalls I should caution about? I'll be most appreciative of any input you'd like to provide. I'll credit you with the ideas, and will post a hit if there is interest.
