I read a lot on LM_NET about teachers using the Internet in their lessons. I also had a workshop for teachers at the beginning of the year during which I provided them with several lists of Internet sites for various subjects, and I recently purchased a book from Libraries Unlimited with over a thousand web sites and descriptions. My problem? Teachers still bring their classes into the library to look for "Plains Indians" or "Germany" on the Internet with no advance planning - and no suggested web sites. Is this just a problem for me, or does anyone else find this happening? If so, how do you handle it? I tried assisting a class today with the Internet reference book and my clerk, who has been at the school for years, cut in and told the students that the best way to search is to use Yahoo. Any ideas would be most appreciated.
