(Nasdaq: MSFT - news) invites technology teachers in high schools, middle schools and secondary vocational and technical schools to apply for the Microsoft® 2000 Curriculum Grant Program as part of its commitment to making the latest technology tools accessible to educators and students. Now in its third year, the Curriculum Grant Program provides software that enables teachers to create leading-edge curriculum for computer science, programming, Web development and information systems courses that challenge students and help prepare them for college or the work force with the information technology skills and knowledge that are in the greatest demand. The two-year competitive grants provide teachers with licenses for state- of-the art Visual Development tools and Microsoft operating systems in return for sharing classroom lesson plans, resources and activities with other educators via the MainFunction Web site (http://www.mainfunction.com/). The license grants will be awarded for the latest technology tools currently used in the work force, such as the Visual Basic®, Visual C++® and Visual J++® development systems, Office 2000 Developer Edition and the Visual InterDev® Web development system. License grants for the Windows® 98 or Windows NT® Workstation operating systems also will be awarded if needed. Who: Full-time faculty from any accredited institution in any department responsible for teaching courses involving systems analysis, programming, application development, Web development or the use of programming for problem-solving activities are encouraged to apply. Eligible departments include, but are not limited to, computer science, business information technologies and mathematics. Only one application will be accepted per department, but multiple applications per school are permitted. When: The entry period is Nov. 1 through Dec. 30, 1999.
