I've been asked to find the words/music to "The Salvation Army Song", and especially to find out if it is copyrighted. It begins with... "G-L-O-R-Y I've been S-A-V-E-D from the ways of S-I-N..." and ends with "Tra-la-la Amen". A man heard a singer by the name of Judy Hinske (?) sing this in 1963 and wants to use it in a play he's writing which will likely be performed as a benefit. Just weeks ago he heard a radio DJ in Houston ask if anyone had ever heard of it, so he called the radio station to find out what the DJ knew. The DJ had just come across a reference to it and knew nothing else. SO...we need to know if it is truly a song for the Salvation Army, or if it's a parody about it. I'm concerned about the copyright aspect of it... I've assured him that I have access to the best minds in the business here, so if you know anything about this song, please reply...Thanks on this unlurking day, Judy 9/9/99 Judy Stewman,Librarian De Queen High School De Queen, Arkansas 71832 stewmanj@dqhs.dmsc.k12.ar.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
