I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I've been searching the Archives this afternoon and can't find exactly what I need. After years of begging and pleading for some updated technology, I had a call from my superintendent called afternoon, and he told me to get him a requisition for 10 or 12 computers, telling him exactly what I want, and a diagram of the library where I want them put. WHOA!!! I am amazed! I have ONE Internet computer in the library now and a small one in my library which does only email. The library is automated with a circulation computer and a computer catalog. We have been trying to run CD-ROM's on some old computers which I find very trying even with added memory. The purpose of these added computers would be for teachers to bring in their classes to use the Internet in their research. I don't want to run a computer lab here... Please help me make some good recommendations here without breaking the bank unnecessarily. (Our administration is VERY frugal and has tried to make do with used computers in the past, a practice I have long complained about.) SO...What brand with what requirements? How many printers minumum? In rows or circular banks? Etc., Etc., Etc... My library is a long rectangular room with shelves around three walls and down the middle (freestanding in middle). I will happily weed and move shelving to make room. If you have time to make any suggestions, I will certainly appreciate it. Thanks...Judy Judy Stewman,Librarian De Queen High School De Queen, Arkansas 71832 stewmanj@dqhs.dmsc.k12.ar.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
