Good Morning!
Sorry to reply to the whole group but as I quit my e-mail to find some
titles I accidentally deleted the original post.

Anyway, what a fun unit to do! I don't know how much time you have with
them or how many times you can see them but here's what I would do. I
have a book written by Jason Gaes, a young boy with cancer. It tells
about his 2 year fight with cancer in his own works (phonetically spelled)
and his own illustrations. It's called "My Book for Kids With Cansur. If
that's too deep of a topic you could use a book from the "Meet the
Author" series, like "Best Wishes - Cynthia Rylant."

After reading and talking about what an autobiography is I would set up
a template on some program like AppleWorks where I would interview each
child (maybe during their center time in the classroom) using about 5
questions (family, pets, likes, dislikes) then type a little paragraph in
autobiography form, insert a picture of them and then print a page for
each child. When all student's have been completed I would
compile the papers and create a "Kindergarten Autobiography Book" (with
the pages laminated and spiral bound) that each student could check out
and take home for a night. The book could then stay in the classroom.

Take care,
Jane
