Numerous people let me know that Internet Explorer can't print preview.
I have come up with the following solution based on info. provided by
members of the group.

Teach students to highlight the text they need and use the COPY command.
Then open a word processing document and copy the text into that. Of
course, they also need to copy the URL to the document for future
reference and citations. This works in our writing lab where students
have access to Word and Internet Explorer.

Since our research computers in the media center do not have Office 97,
I get the students to highlight the text. The default is usually to
print the entire document. The second choice is a page range. The
third choice is SELECTION. Clicking on SELECTION will print only the
highlighted text. For estimating purposes, I tell the students one page
equals approx. two computer screens of info.

Another member of the group added the following - I personally get
around it by using a shareware program, Fineprint, which allows preview
AND printing at full, half or quarter size. I can see that I have (for
example) 9 pages, cancel 1,4,5,7,&9, and print the remaining 4 on a
laser printer at 1/4 size on 1 sheet and have it be very legible. It
does 1/8 size, but I've not found that very useful.

Several people asked how PRINT PREVIEW worked in Netscape. In the
version we had PRINT PREVIEW was a choice listed below PRINT. A miniture
version of the page would appear on the screen. You could click on NEXT
PAGE and PREVIOUS PAGE to determine which pages you wanted. I can't
remember which version of Netscape we had.

Many thanks to the Internet Explorer experts that helped us out!
