Sorry to post to the whole list, but I deleted the original request from
someone who'd had a teacher write on a markerboard with permanent marker.
(And I'm too lazy this morning to go to the archives to find the post! ;-)

Anyway, I just got a melamine markerboard and it came with a bunch of
instructions for how to clean it in various situations. Maybe some others
can benefit from this. It was manufactured by Vecchio Mfg. of Illinois.

Instructions for use and care of porcelain and melamine markerboards
include:

Wash with clear water using a clean, soft cloth.
Remove stubborn dirt or stains with a mild liquid detergent, or a very
mild powdered hand soap, such as
automatic dishwasher soap. They recommend "Cascade."
Rinse with clear water and let surface dry (don't dry with cloth or
sponge).
If an oil base marker is used instead of the waterbase pen (dry-wipe) use
a mild solution of bleach and water
to wipe off. Let air dry.
If a permanent marker is used, many times it may be removed by going over
the marks with a dry wipe marker.
For occasional cleaning use a non-oil base cleaner such as Glass Plus.

Hope this'll help!
