The question is how do the rest of you package professional books that come=
with CDs so nothing gets lost and it all gets used? I have just been=
presented with a set of paperback 8 books each accompanied by two=
 multimedia CDs.=20
Just for reference, in my school, the professional library is in the staff=
room and most of it does not get checked out through the circulation=
program. Most of the other CDs that are owned by the school are kept in my=
office and checked out to staff.=20
Before I got here all CDs were together in one place, all software=
documentation and user's guides were in one place, and all books were in=
their own places. The user and teacher's guides were rarely, if ever,=
used. Software that came as a two CDs boxed together were usually missing=
one disk and no one knows where those second discs are.=20
The administrator who presented us with these books suggested we glue a=
manila envelope that has been cut in half to the inside cover and put the=
CDs in there and they will be just fine. I have seen this done at other=
libraries and the CDs often end up on the floor. There are two CDs with=
each book and I'd like it to be apparent that there need to be two=
returned. I am also bothered by the books being much more flexible than=
the CDs and am worried that the CDs could be damaged. There isn't room to=
have two envelopes or other CD holders on the cover; they would both have=
to go into the same holder. . I have tried packaging other professional=
books together with their CDs (1 or 2) in a clear plastic envelope, all=
marked and bar-coded as a set and putting them in the staff room with the=
rest of the professional collection. The result is instead of taking the=
whole shebang staff members extract either the book, or one or both of the=
CDs and leave the rest. Then other staff members come asking for whatever=
is missing and I have no idea where it is.=20
Are CDs tougher than I think and I shouldn't worry about them being bent=
(flexed)? The clear plastic envelope works so well with the audio tape/book=
kits so I thought it was the perfect answer, and it isn't. Is there some=
 other method I haven't considered?=20
