SUBJECT: ELEM: Nonfiction and Historical Fiction - Diary Format Date: April 17, 2000 From: Pat Gualtieri<jogualt@attglobal.net> Hello, My name is Pat Gualtieri, and I am pursuing a Master's in Library Science degree at the University of Maryland. This is my first posting to this wonderful group. I am interested in identifying juvenile fiction and nonfiction books written in "diary" format. I am aware of the "Dear America" and other series, but I'm also interested in those that are based on historically accurate accounts - i.e., a re-write of an individual's journal, slave narrative, etc. I'm particularly interested in looking at the accuracy and credibility of these diaries, and how the authors address the question of "authenticity" for their young readers. If anyone has titles to recommend, I would be grateful. I will also post a hit if there is interest.
