Dear Group:
Since the unexpected loss of my husband this past December my mind has
been mush. I think that when I tried to send this hit in February it
bounced back. I have checked the archives and I am pretty sure that I
owe you all this hit.
First I want to thank all who offered suggestions.
For paper that you expose to the sun the best answer seems to be Nature
Print Paper P. O. Box 314 Moraga, Ca 94556; phone 925-284-3115; fax
925-284-3120. I have contacted them and the pricing varies based on how
many sheets you get. They have one size only 5.5" x 7.4". For 40
sheets the cost is 8.50. Once this paper has been exposed all you need
to do is soak it in water for about 1 minute.
Jean Townes, Media Specialist at Clover Ridge Elementary School in
Albany, OR offered the following process using blueprint paper that you
can probably get from a friendly architect or interior designer. She
uses a gallon jar, puts pebbles in the bottom with a screen on top of
the pebbles. The pebbles and screen hold the paper and keep it away
from the ammonia in the bottom of the jar. Just put a small amount of
ammonia in the jar. Next put the paper in the jar, with the print side
facing out so you can see what is happening. You also need a lid to
cover the jar that is bigger so you can just set it on for easy
removal. Of course before you put the paper in the jar you need to
expose it to a light source. In using blueprint paper room light is
best because sunlight works too fast. The paper before it is exposed is
yellow. The "print" will be white. When the print looks just right put
it in the jar to "set" it. Jean also suggested using more than one jar
to lessen the load.
Hope this is helpful.
