There is an opening for a New York State Certified Library Media Specialist, 
full-time, to fill in a one-year leave of absence. The library is in a middle 
school serving 560 students grades 6-8, contains 11,000 volumes. Additional staff 
is an aide who works in the library six periods of a nine period day. All sixth 
grade classes receive library instruction for one period a week (8 sixth grades). 
All other grades use the library according to a flexible schedule. Students are 
free to use the library during studyhall periods throughout the day. The library's 
catalog function is fully automated and automated circulation is beginning via the 
Dynix system through cooperation with the county  Board of Cooperative Educational 
Services (BOCES).

The school is located in Dutchess County on the east bank of the Hudson River, 35 
miles north of Poughkeepsie and about 100 miles north of New York City. The district
is comprosed of three schools, one at each level. The middle school building is 
about to undergo a building addition project.
