TARGET:K-2 and 3-5 schools

There will be a new school built next year in our neigborhood.  The
school board has told our school that we (the community)  can decide if
we want it to be a K-5 school or 3-5 and make our existing school K-2.
I would appreciate any comments you might have on this arrangement if you
have experienced it.   What are some pros and cons and things we should
be aware of?  Of course, I'm especially interested in the media center
but would like all comments.
