GEN: Multimedia projectors

Greetings,

I am trying to learn more about multimedia projectors. I have searched
the archives, websites, and various equipment catalogs. However, these
resources concentrate on technical specifications, different models,
prices, and recommendations. At this point, I need more "basic"
information- it's been a few years since I used the LCD panel that
required an overhead projector.

Exactly what can the projector "do?" For example, depending upon the
projector, can you display a Power Point presentation?

I'd appreciate any information! I'll post a HIT if any interest.
